Bayern Munich legend, Arjen Robben, has announced his retirement from playing football.
The 36-year-old made the announcement in a statement on Thursday, according to Independent.
"I have decided to put an end to my career as a professional football player," Robben said in a statement.
"It is, without doubt, the most difficult decision I have had to make in my career. A decision in which "heart" and "mind" collided.
"The love for the game gives you the conviction that you can still handle the whole world, as opposed to the reality that not everything works the way you want and you are no longer the 16-year-old boy who had no idea what an injury meant.
"At the moment I am fit and healthy and as a fan of many other sports, I want to keep it that way for the future. So I will definitely stop, but it is good that way."
Robben began his career at Groningen before moving to PSV.
The forward signed for Chelsea for £13.1million and won two Premier League titles with the Blues before joining Real Madrid in August 2007 for £24million.
The Holland winger won the Spanish La Liga title in his first season with Real Madrid before joining Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich in 2009.

Paris Saint-Germain have signed Pablo Sarabia from Sevilla on a five-year deal, the Ligue 1 champions announced on Tuesday.
It is believed Sarabia's arrival, potentially paves the way for a move away from the club by Brazilian star, Neymar.
Financial details of the 27-year-old's transfer were not disclosed, but Marca claims he was signed for around 20 million euros ($23 million).
Sarabia netted 23 goals and 17 assists for Sevilla in all competitions including Europa League qualifiers last season.
"We are delighted to announce Pablo Sarabia, the 27-year-old attacking midfielder from Sevilla, has signed a five-year contract with PSG," the club said in a statement.
Neymar is being heavily linked with a return to Barcelona, only two years after he left in a world-record deal.
